Simulation of the optical properties of gold nanoparticles on sodium alginate

In this contribution, we report on the simulation of optical reflectance and transmittance (R&T) taken a set gold nanoparticles thin film, deposited sodium alginate by magnetron sputtering. The layer is very thin, so that films are not continuous material arranged in nanostructured layers. R&T spectra simulated using Generalized Transfer Matrix method applied to film-on-substrate model. NP Drude-Lorentz model, taking into account function exhibits increased collision frequency reduced relaxation time. Moreover, signal localized surface plasmon, evident spectra, introducing dedicated modified Lorentz oscillator. experimental results well reproduced All trends (amplitude energy position plasmon oscillator, film thickness, time) correlated with deposition parameters. procedure represents useful tool characterisation such films.
